Overview

Sunvalleytek is one of the biggest E-commerce players founded in 2007. With worldwide offices and large consumer electronics product offerings, we are quickly expanding at big-box retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and more.

I was in charge of the project and responsible for UX auditing, diagramming user flows, and producing final result within 2 months.

The Problem

Identified key issues hindering user experience and brand consistency.

I collaborated with colleagues to identify issues on the original website, combining their insights with my observations. Here’s what I found:

Outdated Information – Content was not current, leading to user distrust

Confusing User Flow – Navigation misled users to irrelevant pages, causing frustration

Inconsistent Brand Identity – Visuals and messaging lacked cohesion, weakening brand recognition

The Goal

Our foremost aim was to cultivate a compelling brand identity and nurture trust among target users. This involved curating a chic, visually alluring layout that resonated with the inherent innovation of our product offerings. trust among target users.

Research

Visual research blending brand and new style

Based on the Sunvalleytek brand, I researched imagery styles and textures to align with their visual identity. I created wireframes to visualize the website's layout and collaborated closely with my team. Our research focused on defining a cohesive visual direction, ensuring that the website's aesthetics and style accurately reflected Sunvalleytek's brand values.

Planning

A site map for design clarity

I redesigned the sitemap to improve accessibility and user-friendliness, transitioning from a single-page layout to multiple distinct pages. This ensures clearer navigation, better organization of company information, and an elevated brand presence, ultimately delivering a significantly improved user experience.

Crafted wireframe variations

After that, I created two versions of lo-fi wireframes to determine the best fit for our brand, each with distinct layouts and visual styles. This allowed us to compare and evaluate which version aligned better with our brand identity and user experience goals. I refined design elements such as columns and banners to ensure cohesion and introduced a dynamic Z-shaped pattern for visual interest.

Design System

When envisioning Sunvalleytek,

Simplicity, and user-friendliness are paramount. We've embraced the clarity of Helvetica Now for both display and text, fostering a straightforward and accessible visual language. Our design ethos echoes this sentiment, prioritizing a clean and mordern aesthetic that harmonizes effortlessly with the Sunvalleytek brand. Introducing a warm red hue to delineate hierarchy amidst our black and white product palette adds a touch of vibrancy and depth.

Feel appreciate the trust from my team

As a UI/UX designer in my first full-time job, I am truly grateful for the trust and support from my design manager, CEO, and colleagues. Their encouragement and guidance allowed me to deliver my best work. Rebuilding an existing website was a challenging but rewarding experience, made enjoyable by the collaborative spirit of the team. Managing the entire project as a newcomer was both daunting and exciting, and I learned so much along the way. The final result exceeded our expectations, increasing traffic to our new website by 10%, and I am proud to have contributed to this success.
